Descripción
In many emerging nations, livestock sector growth has been largely unbalanced and has often not been accompanied by the necessary adjustments in sector policies, governance and investments. If the necessary policy changes, adjustments in the regulatory frameworks and supporting investments are made, however, livestock sector growth can be accommodated and can contribute significantly to society’s current and future environmental, social, economic and health objectives. The project responded to the lack of coherent action in the livestock sector by developing a stakeholder-agreed Global Agenda of Action in Support of Sustainable Livestock Sector Development to target the improved use of resources in the livestock sector as a result of changed practices by stakeholders and the adoption by the public and private sector of guidance and recommendations to make livestock food value chains more sustainable.
