The guide aims to provide assistance to all technicians involved in the Sectorial Fishery Programme and also to various exploiters of fishery products operating in the region of Toliara, Madagascar. It provides an overview of the species encountered in the area and a distribution map of their localization and habitat, so as to improve knowledge of the resources. A description of already existing fishing methods and of other methods which may be used for rational exploitation is given. Techniques for processing and preparation of value-added products are also included. The marketing system and current legislation are examined briefly.
