Descripción
The FAO Supply Chain Action Plan sets out a transformative vision to elevate supply chain management to a strategic driver of FAO’s impact across humanitarian and development contexts. In an increasingly volatile environment shaped by climate shocks, conflict and market disruption, the plan positions integrated, end‑to‑end supply chains as essential to delivering timely, reliable and scalable agricultural assistance. At its core, the Action Plan defines a coherent framework built around five priorities: stronger governance and orchestration, strategic partnerships, embedded supply chain expertise, a data‑driven end‑to‑end model, and sustainable, responsible operations. Together, these aim to bolster a unified, transparent and performance‑oriented system.The plan aligns headquarters, Regional and Country Offices around shared standards, clearer accountability, and improved coordination, while integrating supply chain considerations early in programme design. It emphasizes proactive risk management, enhanced visibility, and better use of data to anticipate challenges and strengthen delivery outcomes. Through a phased roadmap, FAO seeks to establish a modern, adaptable supply chain structure by 2027, one that improves efficiency, reduces losses, and strengthens collaboration with partners. Ultimately, the Action Plan reinforces FAO’s leadership in agricultural supply chains, ensuring assistance reaches communities with greater speed, reliability and impact.
