In 2009, the Government of Mexico City set up the Community Dining Rooms Programme (CDRP) to provide nutritious meals at affordable and stable prices in the most marginalized areas of the city. A diversity of actors -local government, academic institutions, civil society organizations and the private sector- are involved under a co-responsibility model. One of the objectives of the programme is to empower vulnerable groups of the society through jobs creation and revitalization of the community spirit.
