The Compression Complex emulates an actual forest throughout its design. As with a real forest, the lower segment of the building is more open and provides space for movement between core structural units, including the central commercial spaces in the plaza on the first two floors.</p> This poster is one of a selection of entries from the TREEHOUSING International Wood Design Competition that was run by FAO and DBR | Design Build Research School on the occasion of the XIV World Forestry Congres s in Durban, South Africa, in September 2015.The competition challenged architecture students, professional architects and designers to develop innovative and sustainable wood housing and urban building solutions.
