dc.descriptionSe evaluó el potencial turístico del recurso aves y su contribución al desarrollo sostenible de tres comunidades. Se caracterizó la oferta, la demanda y se estableció consideraciones estratégicas para planificar el desarrollo y manejo del turismo de naturaleza basado en la observación de aves para la región del Macizo de La Muerte. Se definieron algunos principios generales para la conducción de giras a observar aves, así como medidas de prevención y reducción de impactos negativos que puede ocasionar el turismo en las poblaciones de las aves. Los criterios más relevantes para seleccionar las aves claves fueron: endemismo, apariencia llamativa por su forma, tamaño o color, dificultad para observarlas, rareza y condición de especies únicas de Centroamérica, siendo el endemismo el más señalado por los guías observadores de aves. En la comunidad de Villa Mills se está desarrollando el turismo educativo y científico, actualmente no existe la infraestructura necesaria y el capital humano idóneo para el desarrollo del turismo basado en la observación de aves. En cambio en la comunidad de San Gerardo de Dota se han desarrollado vertiginosamente actividades turísticas dirigidas a la observación de aves, posee la infraestructura y el capital humano idóneo. En la comunidad de Copey y tanto la infraestructura como el capital humano es mínimo, para el desarrollo de actividades ecoturísticas, aunque actualmente se están dando iniciativas en la promoción del lugar para un turismo local.
dc.descriptionThe tourist potential of the bird resources and its contribution to the sustainable development of three communities of the Macizo de La Muerte was evaluated. The offer and supply and strategic considerations to plan development and management of the nature tourism were established based on the bird observation for the region. Some general principles related to outing conduction to observe birds and measures to prevent and reduce negative impacts caused by tourism were defined. The bird observation is among the main activities undertaken by foreign tourists that visit the Macizo de la Muerte, with an 84.7 percent. The birds constitute the principal attribute to visit the region. On the other hand, the principal activities for national tourists were trout fishing, walking in the forest, and horse riding (84.7 percent). In the Villa Mills Community an educative and scientific tourism is being developed. Currently, the necessary infrastructure and suitable human capital for the tourism based on the birds' observation do no exist. The San Gerardo de Dota Community has vertiginously developed tourist activities directed to the birds' observation. They have the adequate infrastructure and suitable human capital for ecotouristic activities development. It is contributing to the natural resources conservation in the area and to improve the living standards of the community. In the Copey de Dota community both the infrastructure and human capital for the ecotouristic activities development are minimum. Although, some initiatives for the promotion for the place to local tourism are currently being done.
