Descripción

The recent quarter of the FAO Eswatini Newsletter highlights a period of accomplishments from January to July 2025, dedicated to advancing Eswatini’s agricultural and food security goals. By leveraging key partnerships and driving community led projects, the FAO has made significant progress in supporting smallholder farmers, enhancing climate resilience, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices throughout the nation. Our achievements include the handover of the National Geo-Observatory Lab to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, a project supported by the Green Climate Fund aimed at strengthening climate resilience and urban planning. Furthermore, the launch of the ACE Programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture seeks to bolster legal frameworks and enhance capacity for food safety and sustainability. The newsletter also highlights the success of the baby vegetable training workshop, which targets youth smallholder farmers under the One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) initiative. This program has made commendable strides in promoting climate-smart agriculture and expanding export potential. Lastly, the inception of the Irrigation Masterplan process development in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture seeks to empower Government in intervention of effective water management and sustainable farming techniques. With these ongoing initiatives, FAO Eswatini remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive agricultural system that will benefit millions of rural families across the nation, advancing into a promising future through 2025 and beyond.
