Classification and correlation of soils depends strongly on analytical data, as has been pointed in the first part of this report. International soil correlation implies international exchange of analytical data and this requires international comparability of data. A critical analysis of the reliability of laboratory data is important to give the user an idea about the error range all figures are associated with. A chemical or physical analysis determines a numerical yalue of a paranieter T his parametei has a 'true' value which is usually unknown and which the analyst tries to approximate as closely as possible applying certain procedures. In practice the results are scattered around this 'true' value.
