Saint Lucia is facing numerous interrelated challenges, ranging from low availability and a lack of access to food, and to a high dependency on imported and processed foods. A high level of unemployment coupled with high food prices has left vulnerable households struggling to procure foods necessary to meet their nutritional requirements. The project aimed to assist the Government of Saint Lucia to reduce the import of foods of low quality, improve the nutritional content of the diets of the population, and enhance the livelihoods of rural communities producing the food.
