The Latin American and Caribbean Forestry Commission (LACFC) was established to advise and make appropriate recommendations to FAO on the formulation of forest policy, practices and actions in regard to forestry matters as well as to exchange information amongst the Member Nations. The importance of the Regional Forestry Commission was emphasized anew during the Twenty Second Session of the Commission held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from 7 to 11 October, 2002 when a detailed analysis was made of the state of forestry in the Region and several recommendations were made to the countries and to FAO.
