A study was carried out at ICA's regional Agricultural Research Centre "Nataima", located at 431 meters above sea level, with 28°C of average temperature and 1288 mm annual rainfall. The objective of this research was to determine the periods of better water use by the Sorghum crop. Three Sorghum genotypes were used as well as seven treatments which combine periods of adequate soil moisture. An experimental design of split plots with three replications was used. The results showed that the critical periods of moisture deficit are different for each genotype; this allows to do a better planning of planting dates and irrigation applications in order to obtain high yields and a better gross margin.
