Digital technologies are rapidly transforming the agri-food systems across the world. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is committed to assisting governments and partners in bridging multidisciplinary digital divides to ensure that everyone benefits from the emerging digital society.
In the case of Mongolia, the deployment and integration of digital technologies and innovations in the food and agriculture sector has seen notable progress over recent years. There has been extensive effort by the Government of Mongolia and to digitalize national databases, automate administrative processes, and strengthen agrifood value chains. FAO is supporting the implementation of the national E-Agriculture strategy by developing a Digital Agriculture Action Plan and Resource Mobilization Strategy and development of selected digital agriculture solutions. Examples of successful digital agriculture interventions by FAO include (1) Blockchain based certification and meat factory operating system, (2) Animal identification and registration system, (3) Plant origin and agrochemical registration system, (4) Vegetable grower registration system, (5) Smart analytic dashboard, (6) Agriculture drones and (7) Digital Village Initiative. This document provides an overview into FAO Mongolia’s digital agriculture efforts and the digital solutions.
