This brochure provides an overview of the Voices of the Hungry project and introduces the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES). The scale measures the ability of individuals or households to access food, and consists of eight questions referring to food-related experiences and behaviors when food access is constrained. The brochures describes the application of the FIES in the annual Gallup World Poll as well as its potential as a powerful tool for Governments to use for identifying at-risk sub populations. Information gathered with the FIES can contribute to more effective policies and interventions as well as raising political will to eradicate hunger.
