In 2023, more than a quarter of the population is estimated to be food insecure in Palestine. For decades, a protracted and complex humanitarian crisis has impacted the ability of farmers, fishers and herders to access the inputs they need to produce enough food and earn an income. Emergency livelihoods assistance is essential and provides high returns.
For example, every USD 1 invested in establishing a rainwater harvesting cistern in the West Bank yields USD 38 in savings in water tanking costs.
