dc.descriptionThe newsletter focused on project implementation progress of the 4 protected areas in Dongting Lake during January to June, 2019. Major events and progress included: first, the construction of the integrated monitoring system of “Sky, Space and Earth”, the completion of the preliminary draft of the Regulations on Protection of West Dongting Lake and holding of the stakeholders’ symposium, and trainings on management planning, information technology, bird identification and monitoring, and ecotourism activities for the 4 project focal NRs. Second, the field survey on flag species monitoring was carried on in East Dongting Lake Nature Reserve. In addition, the kick-off meeting for the mid-term evaluation on the Securing Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Use in China’s Dongting Lake Protected Areas Project (043 GEF Project) was held on 13, March, 2019 in Changsha.
