The FAO Meat Price Index, which continued to rise moderately since February 2019, gained 22.6 points (14.1 percent) from January to October, but stood 29.3 points (13.8 percent) below the peak it reached in August 2014. International quotations for all categories of meat represented in the index rose in 2019, with the highest percentage increase for pig meat (+21.6 percent), followed by ovine meat (13.2 percent), poultry meat (12.8 percent) and bovine (+12 percent). Policy update offers a snapshot view of production- and trade-related measures, introduced by governments between June 2018 and November 2019. The policy measures include: production subsidies, regulatory reforms, trade negotiations and agreements, tariff rate quotas, food safety standards and licensing.
