dc.descriptionThe specific objectives of this study were to: (i) conduct an in-depth assessment of the viability and commercial sustainability of Colombia’s panela agro-industry and to make a comparative overview of the panela agro-industry in Brazil and Guatemala, where panela is a major local production item; (ii) assess the impact of panela production on producer incomes and livelihoods in Colombia; and (iii) provide information on the institutional and financial support required for Colombia to improve it s commercial viability and to increase profits for small-scale farmers.
