Descripción

Based on official reports, this compendium illustrates how projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), designed and implemented by FAO in close collaboration with national counterparts in Latin America and the Caribbean from 2013 to 2023, are concretely contributing to achieving the objectives of the new Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity. These projects have been instrumental in addressing critical biodiversity challenges in the region, where biodiversity is rich but threatened. FAO has worked in partnership with local governments, community organizations and other key stakeholders to develop strategies and actions that not only protect biodiversity, but also foster sustainable development and community resilience. In particular, this document focuses on Target 11: Restore, maintain and enhance nature’s contribution to people.Progress has been reported in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic of), Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, and other countries throughout the Caribbean region.
