For many years FAO has undertaken activities which aim at promoting the role of women in agriculture and rural development. In November 1988, the FAO Council requestd the Organization to intensify further its efforts in this field. The Council unanimously adopted for transmission to the Conference a Plan of Action for the Integration of Women in Development.
