Resumen

Descripción

Economic growth in many African countries remains largelycommodity-based, dependent on exports of oil, minerals and non-value addedagricultural commodities. In order to accelerate sustainable and inclusivegrowth, and with the aim of placing inclusive agribusiness-led developmentat the centre of Africa’s economic growth strategy, there is an urgent needto foster a development approach that includes food small and mediumenterprises (SMEs). To attract domestic and international private-sectorinvestment, SMEs need compelling business models capable of contributingto poverty reduction and food security, and sustainable resource managementtools. The project adapted FAO’s Inclusive Business Model (IBM) approachto ensure the sustainability of operations of Africa’s SMEs.
