Its specific objectives are to: a) explain and optimize aerobic composting in rural settings, and b) support planning and implementation of composting practices at various scales. The module contains three chapters. Chapter 1 provides an introduction. Chapter 2 presents the theoretical foundations of composting, including composting processes, compost quality, safety and health considerations, and common constraints. Chapter 3 offers a practical guide for planning and carrying out composting activities. Developed from verified research and field experience, the module aligns with global bio‑circular economy strategies by promoting efficient resource use and minimizing waste. Its circular‑economy perspective emphasizes sustainability, environmental stewardship, and closing the loop between production, consumption, and disposal.
