2026-07-07http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/440480The objective was to determine the effect of spring summer defoliation onyields, harvested dry matter composition and protein content of deferred materialfor 3 cultivars of Old World bluestem (Bothriochloa sp) and 1 of sideoats grama(Bouteloua curtipendula (Mich.) Torrey). Defoliation treatments -T1 (3 cuts anddeferring), T2 (2 cuts and deferring), T3 (1 cut and deferring) and T4 (completedeferring)- and participants (4) were disposed on split-plot with a factorialarrangement of treatments (n= 6). Dry matter yields of whole plant (WPY) and leave(LY) -kg ha-1 y-1-, crude protein content of leave (CP, %) and leave crude protein yield(CPY, kg ha-1 y-1) for accumulated values and for winter values (deferred material )were measured. Data were analyzed by Anova (proc. GLM, SAS) and means werecompared with Tukey test (p<0,05). It is conclude that Dahl (Bothriochloa bladhii(Retz.) S.T. Blake), for its higher LY, was the cultivar of major productive performan-ce. To deferring standing forage is not recommendable the complete deferring ofpasture, by its low protein contentapplication/pdfRIA.
